I thought these lyrics were a little on the nose and kinda corny (no pun intended). But I wasn't familiar with the personal drama going on with his wife. Gives them a little more power and legitimacy in that context. I still dont particularly find David's lyracism to be my thing tho :( (sorry not trying to hate, just being honest). They come off a little too 'angsty highschool diary' for my tastes. Still pretty killer instrumentals tho. And Davis at least tries to spice the so-so lyrics up with a unique delivery. Again not trying to hate, but i just feel like Korn, lyrically, when compared to a Tool or even a Slipnot, is something i outgrew after highschool, and have a hard time fully appreciating this much later. But hell, even Slipknot can rub me the wrong way like that sometimes. Im an old fuddy duddy tho, dont listen to me
@kregan70014 жыл бұрын
@@AlexHerlan I feel much the same however I also think you should consider that Korn's whole thing is based in raw emotions which are more often primal and simplistic. Thus the bluntness and essentially childish adolescent lyrics because anger and more importantly rage psychosomatically regresses one to a state of a child in tantrum. It doesn't mean you have to like Korn now but it's like expecting Tool to put out lyrics like Korn. It's just not what they do and why would they. Korn is Korn, raw primal and simplistic. Tool is deep introspective and metaphorical.

Everyone keep saying these new songs remind me of the old Korn, it’s nowhere near the old korn, The last three albums are different, sure you might hear things here and there, but this new sound korn has is amazing, for one thing with Ray on the drums it allows them to be much more creative and heavier with their music. You’re always going to get great lyrics from Jonathan Davis because he’s a great singer, this is just a bad ass band that continues to make great music.

Anyone else feel like they're maturing at a pace that's attuned with KoRn's

possibly my fav song of this album, loss is a cruel thing in life but unfortunately we all gotta go thru it - friends, family and loved ones alike... but its HOW we deal with it that determines our victory or defeat! :)

It’s been a while since I listened to Korn. Guess the last that LP i listened was take a look into the mirror. New single sounds great

This song is like a constant struggle with depression. It's like a talk between you and a manifestation of your depression turned to a person and wanting to save them somehow.

Rico Williams No he does not have schizo.
@RojuOfficial4 жыл бұрын
Rico Williams I’ve never ever seen him mentioning being schizophrenic. I’ve been a fan for 19 years now and digested hundreds of interviews and videos of them. Might have missed it though if it is only on one interview. He doesn’t strike me as schizophrenic to me and he is pretty open about his mental issues and I think he would have talked about it more.

Rico Williams Sure I’ve read them but they don’t necessarily scream schizo to me. It is more metaphorical thing about the voices haunting him from all the bad he has confronted. Depression, wife’s death, addiction, bullying, rape etc.

@Rico Williams I'm not doubting you. But I have never seen any implication from the man himself about him being schizo and trust me I've digested almost any interview I could've find throughout the years. But hit me up if you find it some day!

@Rico Williams Actually found one myself: www.hollywood.com/general/jonathan-davis-i-was-schizophrenic-59552627/ If this is what you referred to? That doesn't mean he has downright schizophrenia with a real diagnosis. Being a proper schizophrenic person would show a lot more in his every day personality. But yeah I get what you are saying.

Welcome back, Korn. I'm a long time fan and this is the best record I've heard from them in a decade. Every song kills it. 🤘
