If that shit helps, and it's made one of the most brutal songs alive, then that's that. Not tryna be an ass, that's just how I feel. Soooo many people in the world look up to this guy for the reason that they've been through so much shit and they're letting it all out with him beside them. I think this is one of the best things someone could do. Drugs and alcohol or not.

I'm pretty sure this is from the recording of the first album that came out in '94. I used to have a VHS tape of all the studio footage from those sessions. I'm sure those were like therapy sessions for him at this point in his life.

... that's not exactly how drugs work. mostly, that sort of mixture will simply expose and amplify existing emotions that can be difficult to express completely sober (or outside of therapy or close connection). similar could have been achieved with sleep deprivation and ruminating on trauma. there's no reason to dismiss anything of their experience or creative process just because they were using those substances. ... there's nothing of that emotional experience that should be diminished. it's still just as real. if anything, the drugs made it easier for those emotions to be expressed and shared with the world. ... also, must you repeat yourself after every comment with that same opinion, like it's the final truth on the matter? it's not. it's a view that's not well formulated or considered, an it's not especially interesting, insightful or useful towards drawing accurate conclusion.

"Daddy" was filled with feelings of helplessness and sadness and it really showed when he had to stop singing. It was hard to listen to but mesmerizing all at the same time. "Kill You" was full on deep seeded haltered, frustration, and rage and he just let it fly. I'm happy that Johnathan could get his emotions out in a therapeutic way with music. KoRn ROCKS!!!

I first got the deuce dvd in 8th grade. The moment I saw this, I fell in love with Jonathan. His experiences with sexual assault and shitty step mothers are nearly exact. I'd love to give this man a hug and thank him for getting me through my own shitty life. He is so strong

This DVD was how I fell in love with Korn. They saved my life. ❤ I remember the day I realized I would never be able to meet them and tell them how much they mean to me. It broke my heart. I still love them :) gonna show my niece this dvd soon, she also loves korn

This emotion he puts in music was what made them back i the day. I think in that era, no one had ever heard this anger inside a song, the sighs of pain, it's unique from Jonathan... They definitely added it in nu metal and then many bands copied them, but I had never seen his singing in studio, this is pretty good artistically talking, but breaks my heart at same time... I feel happy he overcame all of this... PS: He was sooooo cute back then awwww

However, he denied it was about physical or sexual abuse at the hands of his father, and the title and some concepts within the song stem from his parents not believing him. The song caused many to assume that Jonathan's father Rick Davis had molested his son. It is a source of embarrassment for Rick, though his son has gone on the record in many interviews saying it was actually written about a family friend. Jonathan and Rick both decided not to say who the person was. In an early Kerrang! magazine interview, Davis commented on the song: "When I was a kid, I was being abused by somebody else and I went to my parents and told them about it, and they thought I was lying and joking around. They never did shit about it. They didn't believe it was happening to their son.... I don't really like to talk about that song. This is as much as I've ever talked about it...." In an interview with Rolling Stone, Davis stated that he is comfortable performing the song now. Davis has also uploaded a video discussing the song to KZbin. In the video, he said that the abuser was his babysitter; who had since died."

Man I remember buying this VHS video in like early 1997 here in Australia. Damn I loved them so much as a 14 year old since '96. Back then I didn't have internet like most people, it was magazines telling us what albums like this at the time were coming out and reviews.

I think that's the biggest thing you can miss from jonathan is the true pain he puts into those lyrics, you don't think about it when your listening to the record cus you just want to rock out and wreck shit, but seeing him here really give it out in the vocal booth fuuuck! that's heavy, it's like he is projecting from every side of his growing up.
